Any good way for beginners to strengthen lower back?

Any good way for beginners to strengthen lower back?New into the army and we had to learn the fireman lift with our gear on. The problem is, my lower back was hurting maybe due to poor form. So I have to mitigate it while I correct my form. So here is my questions, fellow redditors, how do I improve lower back strength at a basic level?
