Low-Carb Vegetables – the Best and the Worst

What low-carb vegetables are good? There’s a very simple rule:
  • Vegetables growing above ground are low carb and can be eaten freely.
  • Vegetables growing below ground contain more carbs, so you’ll have to be more careful with them (especially potatoes).

Like any rule it is not perfect, but these veggies are all fairly good, especially the ones to the left:

Reebok Bans Soda – Here’s Why

Sugar is the new tobacco.

Here’s another sign of the troubles of Big Soda. While Coca-Cola and other soda brands are desperately trying to associate themselves to “active, balanced” lifestyles, decent lifestyle brands wants nothing to do with them.

Here’s a great example: Reebok is banning soda from their headquarters, and they even made a promotional video about it.

As of this week, Reebok has completely removed all soda, sugary beverages, large candy bars, fried foods, white breads and pasta from its headquarters in Canton, MA. The brand shared that this decision was unanimously supported across the company.

How do you this subreddit to help you lose weight

I can't seem to lose weight. Part of the reason is the lack of the support. I feel like I am all on my own when it comes to weight loss. Another reason is I get this weird nausea when I try to eat less (I am sometimes get it while driving, when I am very stressed, or from fps video games which I don't play anymore) and for some nausea during this feeling I have a strong feeling to help because I start to feel so hungry. Also and you guys are going to cringe but I'm kind of depressed and empty and so the whole food is my friend applies to me. I also don't have any real friends because I don't know if this is a part of life after high school but I don't know I just feel like we as people just tolerate one another or compete with one another or want to be around gorgeous people or rich people. It all seems so fake that I don't really like being around people but I also am lonely. gah this is alot of uncomfortable information but any input would be nice. take care

Water retention post work outs

I have finally gotten back to working out. I worked out M, T, W, & Saturday after having spent the last 3 months being lazy (still following MFP though). I understand as your muscles repair themselves and after working out, our bodies retain water. My question is, how long does it take for your body to get used to it? Meaning, when does your body not retain as much water? If it ever does.

Speaking of working out, I have been killing my workouts, mostly legs (I love leg day, I despise arm day). How long does it take (on average, we're not scientists) to build muscle? I'm very much a number person (I'm working on not weighing myself as much as I do now) and over the course of the last 3 weeks I seem to be floating between the same 2 numbers. I am strictly following MFP and understand it could be water retention, muscle, etc.

My "plateau" isn't killing my motivation. I plan on still killing my work outs at the gym and continuing MFP because eventually, the weight/fat will come off. I'm mainly looking for some science behind how our bodies act :)

I ran today, and cried a lot.

Long story short..I put back on between 20-30lbs in the last year that I had worked so hard to get rid of. I have been so pissed off, moody, and have lacked any sort of confidence in myself for the last couple of months. I am so mad. SOOO MAD! I've been taking my anger out on everyone I love, because I can't get my shit together. I'm in a relationship with a man I can't trust, and it eats away at me, and I eat ALL the junk food in my house to console my stupid feelings. Today was kind of usual, except after fighting with the bf, I went home, put my running gear on, and set off in a mad sprint. I forgot how weightless you can feel when you run your ass off while listening to some Limp Bizket. Once I got tired (this happened quickly) I started sobbing. I seriously mean sobbing. I think I scared a child. I just can't believe I stopped caring about my health because of other distractions. I can't believe how I haven't made the decision to break it off with my boyfriend already. I REALLY couldn't even bare the fact that I got winded so damn quickly, even when my mind was telling me to keep damn moving until I passed out, but my body was telling me to stop.

I ran/walked another 3 miles after that; maaaaybe cried a little more. I'm ready for some big changes. I don't think I'll be able to do it without this subreddit's help once again. I'll be lurking here every day 😁

Tl;dr: fat girl ran, cried, and is ready to be confident in her body once again.

Now I really have to get my ass in gear

I talked to my husband about a post I saw in here recently about a woman talking about her husband gaining weight. After, I asked him if he was still attracted to me and the awkward silence that followed gave me the answer I pretty much knew was coming. How can he be attracted to somebody who hates what they see in the mirror? So now comes the extra push of getting myself down to a better, healthier weight to keep my marriage.

For me, the changes have to me small ones in order to stick vs doing everything at once. When I try to do everything at once, it feels like one thing goes wrong and I give up. Now I guess I have extra motivation to keep trying.

And before anybody jumps in to make a rude comment about him, he said he still finds me funny and smart and he still loves me, but some of the physical attraction is gone.

Why are you excited to lose weight?

Occasionally I'll remember small stuff that gets me really excited about the work I've done and the work I'm still doing.

For example: looking good in awesome Halloween costumes, swimming with confidence, fitting into carnival/amusement park rides, etc.

What about you?

Do you reward yourself for losing weight regularly? Do you have a planned "goal" reward?

When i start running,my heart hurt like hell and i taste blood in my mouth. Is this a bad sign?

I can barely run for two minutes before having to give up and my heart gives in way earlier than my legs should. After that i taste blood in my saliva but there's none

And after that for the rest of the day my heart and breathing hurt. Is this a bad sign? If so,what could it be?

Does anyone else have trouble accepting that they actually are losing weight? And keeping it off??

It's so odd to me to look back on how I got to where I am. I can distinctly remember being 80 pounds at 8 years old and being ashamed of it, and somewhere among those 11 years that passed by I more than doubled that number. And somewhere along the line I must have been what is now my goal weight, I couldn't have just skipped it entirely, but for me it's so hard to image what it was like and what it will be like. Probably because I wasn't healthy even when I was at that weight, so once I get there it will be a whole new experience.

As someone who has tried and failed to lose weight before, the progress I'm making now just feels so temporary. Before I would just try to workout more and maybe eat less junk, but I never really committed to a lifestyle change. Now that I'm holding myself accountable and tracking everything I'm seeing progress physically, I'm just waiting for my mindset to catch up with me. I suppose it's just really hard for me to get used to believing CICO is actually working for me and that this is something that will last if I want it to. I guess I've just never seen myself as someone who can lose weight and keep it off and really be successful in that.

Does anyone else ever feel that way? How do you wrap your mind around the fact that you're actually doing it and it's working? Does it get easier the more you lose or is it something you have to actively think about and work on?

Thanks to Loseit and signing up for a DietBet, I went from 215 pounds down to 195! My goal weight is 135 by my birthday in December.

I've been tracking my calories and biking to work (about 7 miles each way) but I'm working on getting back in to running and hopefully beating my last marathon time. Thanks to everyone here for motivating me every day to be better. You guys are the best. ♡

Having a hard time staying healthy while sick...

I have been sick all week with some kind of flu or cold. And somehow it has actually been harder for me to eat healthy while sick. I'm not feeling well. Don't want to cook. And food is comfort, so I didn't particularly care if ordering out put me over my limit. Bought a huge greasy bacon cheeseburger and fries. Ate tons of snacks. You'd think being sick, I wouldn't want to eat that much junk, but I did. And of course, can't go to the gym and work it off, either.

Has anyone else had trouble with illnesses throwing them off? How did you get back on track?

NSV: Absolutely destroyed my first half marathon since I've started dieting and running again

23M 5'10" SW:235 CW:195 GW: 175 First year teacher

Bonus Progress Pics: http://ift.tt/1UadNlk

When I first moved to DC, I was straight out of grad school where I didn't run and ate like crap and managed to get myself up to 235 pounds, and I was determined to end that.

I started watching my calorie intake, although not religiously, just making sure that I eat less than before, and started to run. Let me tell you, running when you are a big guy is hard! You can feel all the energy it takes just to move your body faster than it wants to go. I have been a runner for years until grad school and so now I was getting discouraged quickly. I ended up losing about 20 pounds through diet alone before actually getting serious in my running.

BEST ADVICE EVER: join a running group or find somebody who also runs and do it with them. I started out just running 3 miles at a time, usually back of the group, but about 4 months later I have lost another 20 pounds and am in front of the pack. I would say what got me there the most was to treat the runs seriously and run with somebody who is just a bit faster than you so that it forces you to push yourself.

It all culminated with the rock n roll half marathon this weekend. I was worried: I often start races too quick, would I hurt myself, I haven't trained more than 11 miles, so many things could go wrong. My goal was to hit under 2 hours, which is about a 9:10 mile pace, but I ENDED UP FINISHING in 1:46:50, WHICH IS 8:10 MILE PACE! This is including my miles 8,9 and 10 all being under 8 minutes. I don't know how it happened, but I'm so happy I can finally call myself a runner again.

How long after your period do you weigh yourself?

I'm still currently 3lbs heavier than when I last weighed myself and my period ended a day ago. I've been eating at maintenance this week so I shouldn't have gained any weight. Is this common, or have I been tracking incorrectly?

NSV: I threw away pizza

today I served myself two slices of leftover Dominos pepperoni pizza and got through the first one before logging both in MFP. I saw what eating that second slice would do to my macros for the day and decided fuck that and threw it in the trash. Ate an apple and drank a protein shake instead for the same amount of calories, didnt fuck up my macros, and still enjoyed it.
