How much protein?

Hey so i just had a quick question. I've read two different rule of thumbs regarding protein intake and am seeking clarification. First was 1gm of protein for each lb of lean muscle mass. Second was 1 gm for each kilo of muscle mass. Obviously there is a huge difference. Currently been averaging around 120 g of protein. Which is correct? Thanks in advance.
