(NSV) Great Weekend Resisting Old Temptations

Hello loseit! My first post ever thanks to this subreddit. I have you guys to thank for keeping me going and making this past week so successful. I hope this can motivate someone like others have motivated me! This past Saturday I attended an event where there were free pastries and coffee. I haven't had any refined sweets in 2+ months. I saw an almond croissant, my favorite pastry. I almost convinced myself that I DESERVE this as a reward! Then I remembered my breakfast was already 200 calories more than usual, and the next day was my official "cheat meal" for my Dad's birthday dinner. So I passed the delicious treat and drank some black coffee instead. I was so proud and thanked myself later when I did my 30 mins of cardio. Sunday: my father's birthday. I told myself before hand I can have 2 glasses of wine and a small, cheat, meal. I kept calories low in preparation. Now, I was a bit of an alcoholic before my diet, I realized I was drinking up to 1,000 kcal in beer PER DAY (I love dark beer). I'm happy to say I set my goal and kept it! Only 2 5oz glasses of wine and only two slices of a small chicken + veggie pizza. I was still within my calorie deficit for the day.

Two+ months ago I never thought I would make these sacrifices. Although progress is slow, the further you go the more motivated you feel to stay on top. I couldn't bend over without my stomach getting in the way. I had heartburn everyday. I had no energy. Now I feel great and everyday I am more determined to keep it that way. I know I will probably slip one day, but I am confident that I will get over it and keep going like so many others here. I just want to say how rewarding it was to have a great weekend, and the long term pride I feel over it was much more worth than sinking my teeth into that pastry or gulping down beer.
