NSV: I started preschool obese at 65lbs, my kids are starting school at normal weight.

Big parenting win.

When I had my son, 4 years ago, I was 300lbs. Pretty sure I'd sometime do something about it, but not worrying too much about it. Then I had my daughter and I don't know, I was tired, ALL the time... Couldn't run, needed naps, my knees would hurt, etc. I was 23... What the hell?

So I lost weight. For myself, but also for them. I was raised with obese parents, I was myself obese- but happy- and I never knew what a balanced diet was. Definitely not the type of relationship I want my kids to have with food and with their bodies. I did a total flip and I was out of the house every single day. We went hiking, we went running (kids can run FYI), swimming, we played, we were active... When we ate, it's because we were hungry. They grew (so far) to have a normal and healthy relationship with food.

I'm happy that they get to have that straight from the beginning and have a solid base with food. My parents never gave me vegetables, we had lots of potatoes and pasta and rice, salad was rare... My kids don't particularly like all veggies, but they eat them, moderately along with carbs and proteins. I'm happy, I'm happy that they are healthy and I'm happy that they get to have a healthy mom. They deserve the best of me and I deserve the very best out of myself.
